It’s Thursday, and for Fortnite players that means the new Battle Pass challenges are live in the game. Many of the Season 6 Week 3 challenges are fairly straightforward, but there are a couple that Fortnitefans may not know how to complete, like the challenge for hitting a player with a tomato from 15m away or more.
While this challenge seems like it has a fairly obvious solution, the problem is some Fortnite players may not know how to get a tomato to begin with. As we saw with golf balls and basketballs last season, tomatoes are actually a toy emote that players have to unlock by completing Battle Pass tiers, with the tomato available at tier 28. Anyone that has completed the bulk of the previous weeks’ challenges should already have tier 28 unlocked or be close to it, so getting the tomato is just a matter of time.
After unlocking the tomato, the next stumbling block players may come across is opponents killing them while they are trying to complete the challenge. However, the challenge doesn’t require players to hit opponents with a tomato, but rather any player in the match. This means teammates can be hit with a tomato and it will still satisfy the requirements of the challenge. So the best bet is to play in duos or squads, land somewhere that is relatively safe, and then just start chucking tomatoes at each other.
Compared to the other Season 6 Week 3 challenges, hitting players with a tomato from 15m away or more should be pretty easy once players know how to get the tomato. As for the other challenges, we’ve noted in the past that Fortnite weekly challenges seem to be getting harder, and that is apparent with the new batch of objectives as well. Besides skill-based combat challenges, there are also more multi-stage challenges that will keep players from completing a bunch of challenges in a single match.
In the meantime, it appears the tomato is really the only toy emote that is going to be part of the Season 6 Battle Pass challenges, whereas Season 5 incorporated golf balls, beach balls, and basketballs. However, Fortnite fans will still get to unlock the fancy tomato variant at Tier 76, which resembles the Tomato Town (now known as Tomato Temple) mascot, so fans of the game’s toy emotes aren’t completely out of luck.
Fortnite is out now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
