The Walking Dead: The Final Season was plagued earlier this year with the closing of its developer, Telltale Games. Creating the first two seasons and part of the third, Telltale had set up TWD for an emotional, gut-wrenching finale. However, the tragic shutdown of Telltale cut it short. Fortunately for fans, Skybound Games quickly obtained the rights to finish its third season. While there had been no news of the next episode since then, fans now finally have a release date.
Despite the fact that Telltale is no longer behind the project, Skybound is a respected studio that ought to treat The Walking Dead: The Final Season‘s remaining episodes with unique care. Regardless of whether Skybound’s finish to the story will be loved or not, fans can at least appreciate that the company graciously took on the project. Thankfully, players won’t have to wait too much longer to give Episode 3: “Broken Toys” a go, as it’s set to release on January 15, 2019.

Episode 3’s release date came as a huge surprise to fans, as it concluded the Kinda Funny Games Showcase earlier today. The Showcase was arranged by the team at Kinda Funny Games as an attempt to fill the void of PlayStation Experience, as Sony announced earlier this year that there will be no PSX 2018. This opened the doors for KFG to accept all developers from any platform to announce anything, giving Skybound a platform to finally announce the release date for The Walking Dead: The Final Season‘s third episode.
While there is no news on the release of future episodes just yet, fans are undoubtedly excited for Episode 3’s arrival. Continuing on Clementine’s journey, The Walking Dead: The Final Season will finally bring the series to a close, and there is not much more fans could ask for than that.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 3 will release on January 15, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
