Today, 14 Days of Fortnite has officially come to a close, but it seems as if there has been some miscommunication on behalf of the multiplayer sandbox survival shooter’s developer, Epic Games, insofar as to when the event would actually be over. With this being the case, the company has now decided that it will be rewarding certain players with a free cosmetic as compensation due to the fact that it shared an incorrect end date for the event on the game’s social channels.
According to an announcement from Epic games, any player who managed to complete at least one of the 14 Days of Fortnite Event Challenges will be eligible to receive the Equalizer Glider absolutely free. However, the company didn’t reveal precisely when fans should expect to receive the cosmetic, with Epic only saying that the item will be given out at some point “in the near future”.
We apologize for communicating the wrong end date for 14 Days of Fortnite on social channels.
To make up for this, players that completed at least one 14 Days Event Challenge will be granted the Equalizer Glider. Eligible players will begin receiving theirs in the near future.

14 Days of Fortnite started two weeks ago, and an Epic employee had mentioned on Reddit that the event’s challenges would still be available to complete until January 3 or January 4. Of course, it’s now known that this wasn’t the case, as the challenges were removed from the game today. Due to this mix-up, it looks as if many players didn’t have time to complete all of the challenges during the event and were upset to find that they could no longer do so.
For those unaware, the Equalizer Glider is a rare cosmetic item that was given to players who were able to complete the final 14 Days of Fortnite challenge of searching 14 loot chests, arguably making it the most coveted reward from the event. That said, it will be interesting to see just how the Fortnite community as a whole will respond to Epic offering the item up to those who may or may not have missed out on attempting to finish the challenge due to the aforementioned miscommunication of 14 Days of Fortnite‘s end date.
Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
